1,713 Presets: a Major Update to List of Animoog Expansion Packs

1,713 presets, that’s how many presets sound designers gave us to explore. Thank you. Without you, Animoog wouldn’t be the Animoog I love so much today. As a mean to thank you dear sound designers and to highlight your work, I’m pleased to provide this major update to the List of Animoog Expansion Packs.

What’s new and improved

Version 1.2 brings:

  • Added Alba Ecstasy’s 429 presets bundle
    • I find those presets pretty amazing, however, they don’t fully leverage Animoog’s polypressure by default — you need to go to the ENV/MOD tab and manually configure polypressure (I plan to eventually write documentation describing how to do that)
  • Added Sunsine Audio’s 254 presets bundle
    • As far as I’ve tested so far, Sunsine Audio presets don’t leverage Animoog’s polypressure by default — you need to go to the ENV/MOD tab and manually configure polypressure
  • Added ‘Luftrum 8’ 64 presets
  • Updated the ‘BASE Pack’ info, which is now free and available from the in-app store
  • Updated Airplane Shadow presets, which are now hosted on Animoog Love itself, thanks to Jeremy Lewis
  • Added the number of presets for the Halloween pack
  • Changed & added colors to the table
  • Improved third-party packs installation instructions — yes, it’s much easier with iFunbox than with the official instructions
  • And a few other minor modifications such as: ordered the list in a way that makes more sense, removed the reference to the html and csv versions of the table, and various other minor improvements

Here’s two examples of improvisations done with the Alba Ecstasy presets bundle. Since stereo ping pong is abused, headphones are required.

I need your help. Can someone tell us in the comments below how many presets and timbres there are in the vanilla Animoog? That info is missing from the table. Thanks!

Wish list and hiatus until August

Unrelated, I also updated the Animoog improvements wish list with a few enhancements and ideas, such as leveraging the iPad’s accelerometer sensor and allowing it to act as a ‘control’ in the ENV/MOD tab, thus enabling vibratos and pitch bending by shaking and turning (changing the orientation of) your iPad

I’ll be away for the upcoming weeks until the end of July. Expect Animoog news upon my return. Meanwhile, enjoy Animoog! — Alex / Satri

Airplane Shadow Presets Available Again

Thanks to animoog.org user ‘Jagged Doctrine’ who pointed out in a comment on the expansion packs page that the free presets from Airplane Shadow were not accessible anymore. I contacted Jeremy Lewis, aka Airplane Shadow, and he allowed me to host his free presets right here on Animoog.org for the benefits of all Animoog enthusiasts. You can download the 74 free presets here. Amongst the next steps, I’ll need to update the expansion packs page accordingly… meanwhile, enjoy the presets! Thanks Jeremy :-)

On my recently-released free Animoog solos album, I used one of Airplane Shadow’s presets, named ‘Horizontalist’, here’s the track (best with high-end headphones):

Here’s the 3 original YouTube videos that shows Airplane Shadow’s presets:

Theremini page and user-contributed presets

This site’s scope is Animoog but this entry is about short page with some documentation and links about it.

What’s also newsworthy is the addition of 65 Theremini presets graciously provided by Synthguy and made available on that page. Thanks to the official Theremini Advanced Software Editor app, we can expect the community of Theremini players to create numerous interesting Theremini presets.

Equally exciting news for all Theremini enthusiasts is the upcoming firmware update that bring many improvements and new features to the instrument.

Enjoy the holiday break and more Animoog-related news in the coming weeks! — Satri :-)

Altermoog – 30 New Free Presets for Animoog and Version 1.1 of the List of 3rd-Party Presets

Rejoice! Zen Lizard announced its 30 free presets for Animoog.

« Resonant basses & cutting leads take full advantage of the highly playable keyboard and sound fantastic. Completely free for everyone! »

These great news required me to proceed with the first update to the recently introduced list of Expansion Packs for Animoog, now at version 1.1., where you’ll find plenty other  sources of free presets for our beloved instrument. There were several improvements to the list, including the addition of Moog’s BASE Pack which was missing from the initial release of the table. Thanks to an anonymous user comment , we now have the associated URLs for this BASE Pack.

If you’re aware of other sources of free presets or would like to share corrections, please let me know! Enjoy the new Altermoog presets!

Introducing the Exhaustive list of Animoog Expansion Packs

Would you believe that expansion packs provide over 1,300 new presets and over 4,700 new timbres for you to play with in Animoog? Here’s significant value on Animoog.org for Animoog users – an exhaustive list of Animoog expansion packs documentation. Why it’s useful?

« Lots of expansion packs can be purchased and installed directly from within the Animoog app under the ‘STORE’ tab, however, several high-quality presets and timbres are not available from within the app itself — that’s the value of the following table, to help us find those valuable gems no matter where they hide! »

Instead of copying the whole new page, just take a look at it.  It’s far from what I had in mind initially, but what matters is that it exists now, and thanks to community contributions, I hope it’s going to dramatically improve over time!

The new table is available as a png, a pdf and as an interactive table. The content of the table is also available on Github. As usual, any contribution is welcomed.

Other recent updates on Animoog.org

There were also a few other significant improvements to the site, such as more precise Welcome page indicating what is actually available on the site vs what is planned. I also added a new section in the Animoog improvements wish list regarding inter-app connectivity.

Take care! — Alex, aka Satri
